Can we have it all ? how?

Indra Nooyi mentioned in one of her interviews that women professional can’t have it all.  Nina Lekhi, founder, BAGGIT, writes in her autobiographical book that she disagrees with this statement and surely, Women Professionals CAN have it all.

It’s not the question of who is correct between the two of them. It’s an everyday struggle for most of the women out there in corporate and business India. We can see living examples of both the cases. There are a few who have willingly opted out of their “Working” status and are content with their role of being Home makers. We value and respect their choice. This  post is for the remaining large chunk who is still in dilemma of ‘ha karu ya na karu’ mode or those who not so willingly but stepped out of corporate scene due to personal obligations. The million dollar question is how do I go about??

There are many wonderful books out there like ‘Lady,  you are not a man!’ by Apoorva Purohit who talks about how our own behavioural habits and how we project ourselves to our family and peers determine the success path. ‘Lean in’ by Sheryl Sandberg is another great book in this aspect.

So where do we start?  It all starts is within us. A strong desire to make a difference to the world. We have to develop four ‘Self’ies.

  1. Self -Esteem
    • We evaluate ourselves and regard us in high regards. Wherever we are flawed, we analyse ourselves, be peace with us by accepting our own limitations and set to improve.
  2. Self – Respect
    • We learn to respect ourselves unconditionally.  We respect and love ourselves for our own being and not because of our abilties. We are important human beings.
  3. Self – Initiative
    • We perform things not to get somebody else’s approval. We take the leading action to make a positive difference in our life. The power to start is within.
  4. Self – Identity
    • We identify our strengths, our characteristics, our weaknesses. Our beliefs, our values that make us.

With these four SELFies is place, we can manage the world that surrounds us, riding the roller coasters of life confidently.
